Moonsport Website
Moonsport Website
Moonsport is a South African sports media agency known for producing world-class rugby and event coverage. I led the redesign of the Moonsport website from concept to completion — crafting a visual identity that redefined how sports media can look and feel online. Unlike traditional broadcasters such as SuperSport, I introduced a design language built on motion, creativity, and interactivity, showcasing sport through energy, personality, and artistry.

Concept
Concept
The concept was to move away from predictable sports layouts and create something that felt alive, dynamic, and human. I wanted the website to reflect the same excitement Moonsport captures on the field — every click, scroll, and transition designed to feel like part of a story.
I started with sketches and hand-drawn elements to build a personality-driven look, blending digital polish with creative imperfection. These drawings and annotations were later integrated into the UI — underlining headlines, circling key words, or pointing at visuals — giving the site a crafted, editorial edge that instantly stood out in the sports media landscape.

Research
Research
Before diving into design, I conducted a visual and UX analysis of leading sports brands such as SuperSport, ESPN, and Sky Sports. I found their interfaces to be data-heavy and grid-locked, often losing emotional impact. Audiences were craving freshness — a creative balance between information and inspiration.
This insight led me to position Moonsport differently: not as a broadcaster, but as a storyteller brand. Every design decision — from typography to layout rhythm — was built to express creativity and craft, rather than corporate uniformity.

I designed an interactive and layered website where images overlap, shift, and pop as users scroll. The visuals feel almost three-dimensional — merging photography, motion, and texture. The large, confident typography was paired with handwritten accents to create a dialogue between boldness and personality.
Sections like “Who We Are” and “Our Work” were treated as storytelling moments, combining live-event imagery, text animation, and fluid transitions that mirrored the pace of live sport. Each element was meticulously planned in Figma, then tested for responsiveness and smooth performance across devices.

Development
Working with developers, I ensured all motion and layering effects were optimized for real-world performance. Animations were built using lightweight frameworks to keep the experience fast without losing visual impact.
I oversaw the final staging phase — reviewing transitions, load speeds, and responsive layouts — ensuring that every creative element, from the sketches to the typography, retained its integrity in the live build. The finished product delivered a visually striking, interactive, and emotionally resonant experience that redefined sports media design for the agency.
